How to make a Snapchat filter to add your own images and text to your snaps is explained in this article. Depending on the size of the filter’s coverage area, the popularity of the location, and how long you want the filter to be available, prices for custom Snapchat filters can range from a few dollars up to $100 or more.

How to Make a Web-Based Snapchat Filter

Select the Create option from the top menu, then click the yellow Get Started button on the next page to go to Snapchat.com. Then click on Filters in the Creative Tools.

There is a smartphone-shaped preview area in the centre of the filter making tool, and editing features on each side. Your filter design can begin now.

Uploading Your Own Filter Artwork: Option #1

It’s possible to import third-party tools like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator into the Snapchat previewer by clicking the yellow Upload button, which allows you to select a file and import it.

Make sure your file is in order before you proceed:

is under 300KB in size, is saved as a PNG file with a transparent background, and measures 2340px in height by 1080px in width.

In Snapchat, you can design your own filter: Option #2

You can use Snapchat’s filter-making tool to create your own custom filter using the editing features.

You can choose a design theme: Choosing the default theme on the left side will bring up a drop-down menu with a variety of themes to choose from. This will allow you to see a preview of the design you’ve chosen.

To edit a specific part of the theme, simply click on it. Using the design shown above, we can move and resize the text by clicking and dragging, or we can delete it entirely by selecting the trash icon.

The right-hand side of the screen displays additional editing options for the currently selected design element. We can change the typeface, alignment, colour, and shadow of the text while it is still selected.

The Color option at the top right lets you change the theme design’s colour scheme. To change the overall design’s colour scheme, all you have to do is select Color and choose a colour (including the text and graphics).

Add your own text and other elements to the design: Text and Elements options are available in addition to the Color option. Text > +Text button to add additional text to the filter and use the editing features that show up to the right to customise it.

To import a file into your filter, select Elements > yellow Upload button and choose a file. You could, for example, use a PNG file with a transparent background to upload a smaller image graphic and drop it into the filter’s lower left corner.

Bitmoji characters may be added to your filter by logging into your Bitmoji account by clicking the blue Log in link beneath the Bitmoji graphic.

Select the yellow Next button at the bottom right when you’re satisfied with your filter.

Set Your Filter Time Period

For each day that you want your filter to be available, click on the calendar in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and choose whether you want it to be one-time or regular.

For ONE TIME EVENT, your filter can only be available for a maximum of two days beginning the day you’ve created it up and ending four days later. The RECURRING EVENT option lets you set it to repeat daily or weekly.

For recurring weekly events, you can also specify the days of the week and times of day that the filter should be available, as well as the time zone. When you’re ready to move on to the location page, click the yellow Next button.

Select the location where you want to feature the snap filter

Only a specific geographic location can access your filter, which is always accessible to the public. As a result, you can’t pick and choose which of your friends can use the filtered search. Anyone who takes a photo within the designated area of your filter will be able to apply it.

Select the correct location from the dropdown menu after entering your address. Geofence is the default square fence that will appear around your address. It’s possible to reshape or expand your Geofence by dragging any circular point you choose.

Then click the yellow Checkout button in the lower right corner of the screen when you’re all done. Snapchat may ask you to verify that your Geofence is properly set up.

In order to keep your filter out of the hands of everyone but the people you want to keep access to it from, try setting your Geofence as small as possible (20,000 square feet). Even if your filter area includes public venues or spaces, this will not guarantee that strangers won’t see or use your filter, but it will certainly help minimise it.
Pay for Your Filter at the Checkout

You’ll see your order total on the checkout page. Logging in is an option, but it is not required to complete your order. If you haven’t done so already, select Log in.

Please fill out the required fields for your email address, email filter, and payment information. Snapchat currently only accepts credit card payments.

Once you’ve read Snapchat’s Privacy Policy, click on the yellow Submit button to submit your filter for review and approval.

What Is the Process for Creating a Snapchat Filter?

Make sure you’re signed in to your Snapchat account before you begin. Access your profile by tapping on your Bitmoji or profile icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

To access your settings, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner. Filters and Lenses > Get Started! > Filter is where you’ll find the filters you’ll need.

Customize a Theme Design if You Wish

Select a theme from the What’s the Occasion? tab, and then choose a theme design from the drop-down menu. This is a sneak peek at the theme’s appearance. Using the X at the top left of the screen, you can return to previous designs.

To bring up editing options, tap on various design elements in the previewer, such as the text. It is not possible to edit all elements of the design, such as image graphics. You can also pinch your index and thumb fingers together to expand and contract the size of elements by tapping and holding your finger down on them.

To add your own text, tap on the T icon in the top right, or the sticker icon, to add emojis.

Tap the green checkmark button in the bottom right when you’re satisfied with your filter design.

Set a Filter Time Period

Select a time frame for your filter by scrolling through the dates and times at the bottom of the Start Time and End Time tabs.

From the app, you can set a filter time period that is longer than two days, unlike when you do it on Snapchat’s website. However, you can’t schedule recurring events like Snapchat.com does.

When you’re finished, click the green Continue button.

Select Where You Want to feature the Filter

Use the field at the top of the location tab to type in an address and then select the correct one from the dropdown menu that appears. Upon arrival, you’ll notice that a square fence has been placed in front of you. The fence can be dragged and dropped into any shape or size by tapping any circular corner.

When you’re done, press the green Continue button to proceed to the checkout page.

Pay for Your Filter at the Checkout page

Your filter order summary will be displayed on the final tab. You can save your order and come back to it later by clicking the X in the top right corner.

In the event that you’d like to create and name your Geostory event, tap the Add Geostory button. Basically, a Geostory is a collection of stories at a specific location that anyone can contribute to while they’re there.

Tap the green Purchase button to pay for your filter and submit it for review if everything looks good on your order summary.

Lenses are distinct from filters. In spite of what some people may think, a lens is not the same as a filter.
