Snapchat is a lot more fun when you have streaks. When a winning streak starts, it’s hard to put it to an end. For example, if you sent a friend a snap every day for five days, and they responded with a snap every day, your snapstreak would be at the five-day mark..
How to See What Snapstreaks I Have
A friend’s name appears directly beside their Snapstreak. There may or may not be additional emojis accompanying the flame emoji that represent other meanings about your friendship, depending on the length of your Snapchat streak.
Snapstreaks that have been going for a long time will have a number next to the flame emoji that represents the number of days they have been going. For every 100 days that you keep a snapstreak going, the red hundred points emoji will be displayed next to the flame emoji in the notification bar.
How to make sure you don’t miss out on any of your streaks
You and the person you’re snapping must send each other snaps within a 24-hour period to avoid losing your streak. It’s a team effort, so if you keep snapping within the 24-hour window but your friend doesn’t, your snapstreak will end and you’ll have to start over!

Is it necessary to know when your 24-hour window closes? Whenever your time is running out, Snapchat displays an hourglass emoji next to your friend’s name in the conversation tab.
Some activities do not count towards your Snapchat streaks
The majority of the ways you can interact with Snapchat friends won’t add to any current snapstreaks. Among them are:
Snapchat allows you to open a chat with any of your friends by simply tapping their name, which is convenient, but it doesn’t count towards your streaks.
Posting Stories: Any snapstreaks you have with friends who have viewed your storey will remain unaffected if you post a storey and they view it.
In theory, you’d think that sending snaps to a group of friends would count toward your snap streaks with friends who are part of that group, but nope! Sorry. For your snapstreaks to continue, you will need to send individual snaps to each of your friends.
As a rule of thumb, snaps that have been saved in Memories or uploaded from your phone will not count toward a snapstreak if you send them within the 24-hour window.
If you have Snapchat Spectacles, you can use them to share content. Even though they may make you feel like a super Snapchatter, the videos you record and share with them will not count toward any of your snapstreaks.
Two Interactions Are All You Need to Get a Streak!
In order to extend the duration of your snapstreaks, there are only two things you need to do. Among them are:
- Sending a photo to a specific person.
- Video snaps can be sent to any specific friend.
It’s done. For the sake of keeping up with your Snapchat streaks, all you need is to remember to send an individual photo or video snap to a friend within the 24-hour window following your last snap interaction.
Using Filters and Stickers, You Can Share Your Snapstreaks With Friends
Some fun features on Snapchat help you keep up with your snapstreaks by encouraging your friends to respond quickly with a photo or video. These are a few examples:
Take a photo or video, double-tap on a friend’s name in your conversation tab, and then swipe left or right through the available filters to create a unique look. Snapstreak filters with a specific friend will show up in large white numbers next to the flame emoji if you have one.
Bitmoji stickers: if you’ve linked your Snapchat account to Bitmoji, you can tap the sticker icon next to a friend’s name in your conversation to see snapstreak stickers featuring your Bitmoji and theirs, if they have one. The best way to find all of the available snapstreak stickers is to simply type “streak” or “snapstreak” into the search field at the top. Apply it to your snap by tapping on any of the options.
